Comedian Sanku’s Unpaid N25m Car loan Sparks Controversy

Late comedian Sanku’s death sparks debate after content creator claims he left an unpaid N25m car loan; guarantor speaks out on the controversy.

The late Nigerian comedian and content creator Adetola Samad, popularly known as Sanku, is once again at the centre of public attention following claims about an unpaid car loan linked to his death.

Content creator Folorunsho Olayinka, better known as Finest, revealed in a recent TikTok livestream that Sanku passed away in a 2012 Lexus RX 350 SUV purchased on loan.

According to Finest, who stood as guarantor for Sanku, the late comedian had only partially paid for the vehicle, which was bought for N25,400,000.

Documents shared by Finest, including a receipt from JJ Motors Empire and Services Limited dated June 5, 2025, showed that Sanku had paid just N7,000,000 towards the car at the time of his death.

This left an outstanding balance of approximately N13 million.

Finest questioned the motives behind rumours alleging foul play in Sanku’s death, insisting there was no benefit in harming the comedian given the unresolved loan.

He also refuted claims about knowing the identity of Sanku’s driver.

However, one of Sanku’s friends offered a different perspective, stating that the comedian was under pressure to return the Lexus and settle the loan.

The friend added that Sanku intended to exchange the vehicle for a Nigerian-used Toyota Venza due to financial difficulties, leaving a remaining balance of around N2.3 million.

The controversy has sparked widespread debate across social media, raising questions about the challenges entertainers face with financial obligations.
