Peter Okoye mourns Anthony Joshua’s coaches, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, following their deaths in a Lagos-Ibadan Expressway accident

Musician Peter Okoye has expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, close associates of boxer Anthony Joshua, in a tragic road accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Monday.

Ghami served as Joshua’s strength and conditioning coach, while Ayodele was his personal trainer.

Both men had been integral members of Joshua’s team for many years.

Okoye, in a statement on X, described the incident as “shattering” and offered condolences to Joshua, praying for comfort, guidance, and strength as he navigates the loss.

“This accident has shattered me completely. Latz & Sina, I can’t believe you’re gone. Why? To my brother @Anthonyjoshua, my heart breaks for you. Latz & Sina will forever live in our memories and in the love they left behind. Even in the middle of this storm, we are grateful to God for sparing your life. May He comfort you, guide you, and help you carry their legacy with pride and strength. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Stay strong, brother,” he wrote.

The accident occurred when Joshua’s vehicle collided with a stationary truck, resulting in the deaths of Ghami and Ayodele.

Joshua and his driver were rescued and taken to hospital for treatment.

President Bola Tinubu and the Ogun State Government have publicly expressed condolences to Joshua and the families of the victims.

The tragedy has sent shockwaves through the sports and entertainment communities, with many mourning the loss of two figures who played key roles in Joshua’s career.
