2Baba condemns Benue killings during a visit to Otukpo community, urging Nigerians and stakeholders to unite in ending the persistent violence

Legendary Nigerian singer Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has condemned the continued attacks on communities in Benue State, calling for urgent collective action to end the violence that has claimed several lives.

The Benue-born music icon made the appeal on Wednesday during a visit to Otukpo-Nobi in Otukpo Local Government Area, one of the communities recently attacked by suspected armed herders.

The visit came weeks after a deadly assault on July 12, 2026, during which at least 10 residents were killed and several others sustained injuries.

Sharing moments from the visit on his Instagram page, 2Baba expressed solidarity with the affected community and encouraged residents not to lose hope despite the tragedy.

“Benue is home. When home hurts, we all feel it. Today is about standing together, listening, and reminding one another that hope is never lost,” he wrote.

Speaking with members of the community, 2Baba condemns Benue killings, describing the recurring attacks as unbearable and insisting that the situation could no longer be ignored.

“It’s becoming too much now, we can’t pretend anymore. We need to begin planning. It won’t be automatic but there is definitely going to be a solution,” he said.

The award-winning singer sympathised with families who lost loved ones and stressed that ending the violence would require cooperation among government authorities, community leaders and residents.

“It’s not going to be one person; we all need to come together and fight it. I came to sympathise with you all. It’s painful,” he added.

The attack on Otukpo-Nobi is one of several violent incidents recorded in parts of Benue State in recent months, with communities repeatedly coming under assault by suspected armed herders.

The persistent insecurity has sparked renewed calls for stronger security measures and lasting solutions to protect residents.

During his visit, 2Baba reiterated the need for unity and sustained efforts to restore peace, urging all stakeholders to work together to end the cycle of violence in the state.
