Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has explained her deliberate decision to avoid certain social events, citing her awareness of hidden intentions behind some invitations.

In a statement on her Instagram page on Thursday, Okorie revealed that not all invitations are genuine, noting that some are designed to harm or undermine unsuspecting guests. She emphasised the role of prayer and spiritual discernment, stating that only God can reveal people’s true intentions.

Okorie highlighted that her absence from some gatherings is because certain individuals may not genuinely like her but want her presence to “bring life to the party.”

“No amount of appearance fee can convince me to attend places where my spirit warns me against going,” the actress wrote.

“Some are plotting to kill or destroy you, that’s why as a human being you need to pray for deliverance so God can show you who you are dealing with.

Most of you, why I don’t attend some of your events, is deep down you don’t like me, but you want me in your events because I am the life of the party.”

She further cautioned followers about the prevalence of envy and malice in social settings. “Poison plenty o. Dem Dey poison people o. Dem Dey plan people o,” she added, referencing ongoing incidents involving colleagues in the entertainment industry.

Okorie concluded by reaffirming her faith and strength, crediting her resilience to God’s protection. “Dem don do me well well.

If no be say I be strong person, dem for don comot me, but you see this God I am serving is alive; He will expose all of them,” she wrote.
