The crash led to the deaths of two of Joshua’s associates, while the boxer and his driver sustained injuries.

News of the incident quickly drew national attention, sparking widespread concern over road safety in Nigeria.

Reacting in a viral video on Instagram, the award-winning comedian described the tragedy as a painful reminder of the way lives are undervalued in the country.

He highlighted the systemic failures in road safety, infrastructure, and governance that contributed to the accident.

Makun lamented the irony that Anthony Joshua, who has consistently honoured his Nigerian roots on the international stage, would suffer such a loss during a visit home.

“Two precious lives gone. Friends. Brothers. People with families, dreams, and futures. This is not fate. This is failure,” Makun said.

“Failure of our road safety systems. Failure of infrastructure. Failure of leadership. How many more must die before our roads are made safe?”

He urged the Nigerian government to implement proper enforcement, effective emergency response systems, and policies that treat human life as sacred rather than disposable.

He also extended prayers to the departed and wished Anthony Joshua a full recovery.

The comedian’s reaction underscores growing public concern about road safety and accountability in Nigeria, particularly as high-profile incidents continue to draw attention to longstanding infrastructural and administrative challenges.
