Coal City Film Festival hosts Homecoming Conversations in Enugu, exploring how Nollywood and creative solutions can address local security challenges

The Coal City Film Festival (CCFF) successfully hosted the 3rd edition of its flagship thought-leadership platform, Homecoming Conversations, in Enugu, as part of preparations for the 6th edition of the festival scheduled for March 2026.

This year’s edition focused on the theme Nollywood and Security: Using Creative Industry Solutions to Tackle Local Insecurity.

The event brought together stakeholders from the creative industry, security agencies, government institutions, and media to explore how film and storytelling can contribute to national security discourse and community stability.

Speakers at the session included Chief Dr. Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen, acclaimed Nollywood filmmaker and cultural icon, and CC Elijah Etim Willie, Ph.D., State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Both highlighted the power of cinema as a tool for social orientation, behavioural change, and community engagement.

They also stressed the importance of collaboration between creative professionals and security institutions to address local insecurity effectively.

The event reflects CCFF’s commitment to leveraging the creative industry as a platform for societal impact and public discourse, reinforcing the role of storytelling in promoting community awareness and security solutions.
