Charly Boy addressed the issue on social media after sharing a video from his daughter’s engagement ceremony and celebrating the couple’s commitment.

The post attracted mixed reactions, including a comment from a social media user who questioned whether Charly Boy’s daughter had previously been in a relationship with a man.

The user suggested that such an experience could have influenced her decision to be with a woman.

Charly Boy responded by pointing to his daughter’s life experience and family, while making it clear that he would not dictate her personal choices.

“She has 6 children, and one made me a great-grandfather. It’s her life,” he said.

The entertainer also used his post to invite fans and well-wishers to extend their goodwill to the couple following the engagement.

The engagement has since generated discussion online, particularly because of the public nature of the ceremony and the veteran entertainer’s response to criticism.

Charly Boy has long maintained a prominent public presence and has frequently spoken openly about personal and social issues.

His latest comments similarly emphasise his stated position that adult family members should be allowed to make decisions about their own relationships.

The engagement has also drawn attention to the wider conversation surrounding same-sex relationships in Nigeria, where same-sex marriages are not legally recognised and the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act, 2013, prohibits marriage or civil union between persons of the same sex.
