Chike Speaks On Marriage, Money

Nigerian singer Chike Osebuka describes marriage as a “stupid step,” revealing his focus on financial stability and career growth rather than settling down

Nigerian singer and songwriter Chike Osebuka has stated that he has no plans to get married at the moment, describing marriage as a “stupid step.”

The 32-year-old artiste, known for his soulful and romantic ballads, made the remark during an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo.

Asked about his plans for marriage, Chike said:

“In my personal opinion, in fact, I think it’s a stupid step to get married, that’s my opinion.”

Chike also revealed that his happiness is closely tied to financial stability.

“For me to be happy, to be honest, I need a lot of money. This is not even canal, I won’t lie to you, I like money. I want money,” he said.

Reflecting on his music career, Chike explained that he did not initially envision making a living from music. It was only after university that he realized music could become his profession.

He recounted early financial struggles, noting that he even took acting jobs for two years to survive.

Chike also shared moments of disappointment when friends failed to support him financially for his shows, recalling:

“I called the friends I used to hang out with… and the answer was no. Some of them just stopped picking my calls. It was a female friend who helped me financially, and that’s how I managed to stage my show.”

Chike began his professional music journey in 2015 after participating in Project Fame. He was the first runner-up on The Voice of Nigeria in 2016 and released his debut single Fancy later that year.
