CKay’s hit “Love Nwantiti” surpasses one billion streams on Spotify, making him the second Nigerian solo artist to reach the milestone

Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record producer Chukwuka Chukwuma Ekweani, popularly known as CKay, has celebrated a major milestone as his 2021 hit “Love Nwantiti” surpassed one billion streams on Spotify.

Spotify announced the achievement via its X handle, stating, “A global heartbeat: @ckay_yo officially joins the Spotify BillionsClub with ‘love nwantiti (ah ah ah)’ as the first solo Nigerian artist.”

The track, released in 2021, gained international attention shortly after its release, becoming a viral sensation on TikTok. CKay now joins an elite group of global artists to reach the billion-stream mark, with the achievement making him the second Nigerian solo artist to do so, following Rema’s collaboration with Selena Gomez on “Calm Down,” which reached the milestone in 2023.
