Afrobeats star Davido reacts subtly to Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke’s PDP resignation amid political tensions

Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, responded to the unexpected resignation of his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), posting the brief message “Jeje…” on social media.

The post, interpreted by many as a call for calm or strategic patience, comes as political tensions rise around the governor’s exit from the troubled party.

Adeleke’s resignation, officially submitted on 4 November 2025, was only publicly confirmed on Monday night after his aide, Olawale Rasheed, leaked the letter online.

In the letter addressed to his Ward 2 chairman in Ede North, Governor Adeleke cited unresolved crises at the PDP national level as the reason for leaving, while expressing gratitude to the party for supporting his political rise from senator to governor.

The revelation has thrown the Osun 2026 governorship primary into confusion.

The state PDP chapter announced a postponement of the election due to internal factional disputes, but the National Working Committee insists the primary proceed, even though Adeleke is currently the only aspirant who purchased the nomination form.

Speculation is growing that Governor Adeleke may now pursue a second term under the Accord Party, with reports suggesting some of his aides have already moved to secure positions within the party.

Earlier attempts to defect to the APC reportedly failed after party leaders rejected his move.
