Don Jazzy denies damaging UK incident claims

Don Jazzy denies claims he fled police after a UK car accident, clarifying he waited for officers, passed a test and left the car due to costs

Music executive Michael Collins Ajereh, widely known as Don Jazzy, on Monday in Lagos denied allegations that he evaded police after a car accident during his early years in the United Kingdom. Don Jazzy denies the claims, which resurfaced after remarks by his former associate Bankulli.

Bankulli had said in an interview that Don Jazzy removed his vehicle’s number plate and fled the accident scene to avoid penalties, suggesting the incident was excluded from an Afrobeats documentary for that reason.

He described the producer as a young man trying to survive in London, claiming the crash resulted from fatigue after a show.

The comments went viral after an X user expressed concern that the UK authorities could revisit the matter if the story gained traction. The user criticised Bankulli for what was described as a reckless disclosure.

Responding on X, Don Jazzy dismissed the allegations and described the account as inaccurate. He said he remained at the scene until police arrived, took a breathalyser test, and impounded the vehicle.

He noted that he chose not to reclaim the car because the recovery fee exceeded the value of the vehicle, which he described as inexpensive.

The producer added a light-hearted remark, saying the years that had passed may have caused Bankulli to misremember the event. His calm rebuttal drew support from fans, who praised his transparency and composure.
