In a post on X, Don Jazzy urged new label bosses to treat their talent like superstars from day one, emphasising that nurturing and empowerment are essential to building successful careers.

Don Jazzy explained that his approach allows artists to take centre stage 90% of the time, stepping in only when necessary, ensuring that creative talent is fully recognised and celebrated.

He also noted that some newer label bosses attempt to emulate his “Don” persona but often focus on the wrong aspects, which can hinder artist development.

“I might be wrong but I’ve noticed some record label bosses don’t respect their artists. If you know you are aiming at building a huge superstar, start from day one to accord them with that respect,” Don Jazzy wrote.

The music executive stressed that respecting and nurturing talent, rather than controlling it, is the key to sustainable success in the music industry.
