Singer Fave Raises Alarm Over Alleged Ramadan Show Restriction

Nigerian singer Fave claims she was told shows are not allowed during Ramadan in Nigeria while planning her birthday event

Nigerian singer and songwriter Chidozie Godsfavour Ugochinyere, popularly known as Fave, has raised concerns over an alleged restriction on organising music shows during the Ramadan fasting period in Nigeria.

The artist made the claim on her official X handle while explaining difficulties she encountered while planning a birthday concert scheduled for March.

According to Fave, she received repeated rejections and setbacks from promoters before being informed that shows were not allowed during Ramadan.

The singer expressed confusion over the alleged directive, stating that she had never encountered such restrictions while growing up in southern Nigeria.

“So I was tryna do a show in Nigeria on my birthday this year but they’re telling me shows aren’t allowed during Ramadan? I’m a little confused,” she wrote.

Fave said she respects all religions but questioned why a religious observance should affect other people’s businesses and personal celebrations.

“I respect all religions. But I’m Christian and I really want to do this on my birthday,” she added.

The singer appealed to promoters who may be willing to organise the event, expressing hope that the show could still hold despite the fasting period.

Her comments have since sparked conversations online about religious observances, entertainment regulations, and cultural differences across regions in Nigeria.
