Mosunmola Abudu praised the actresses in a post shared on Instagram in Lagos on Tuesday, describing their work as creative, powerful and influential in shaping the future of the Nigerian film industry.

The films, Behind the Scenes starring Funke Akindele, Oversabi Aunty led by Toyin Abraham, and A Very Dirty Christmas featuring Ini Edo, have been dominating the Nigerian box office and drawing strong audience turnout nationwide.

Abudu said the actresses are breaking barriers and redefining leadership within Nollywood at a time when cinema attendance traditionally peaks during the festive season.

“Today, let’s celebrate the phenomenal queens of the box office lighting up December in Nigeria,” Abudu wrote.

“These incredible women are creating magic, breaking barriers, and showing the unstoppable strength of women in film.”

She added that the films are available in cinemas across the country, including at EbonyLife Cinemas, and urged audiences to support locally produced content.

Abudu said the success of the three actresses reflects a broader shift towards women-led storytelling in Nollywood, with female producers, directors and lead actors increasingly driving commercial and creative outcomes.
