Funke Akindele unveils the star-studded cast of The Four, her new drama about friendship, motherhood and resilience, ahead of its December release
Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has unveiled the star-studded cast of her latest film, The Four: No One Fights Alone, ahead of its global cinema release on December 11, 2026.
The highly anticipated film brings together some of Nigeria’s most recognisable acting and entertainment talents, with Akindele taking on the roles of writer, director and producer.
The ensemble cast includes Waje, Chioma Akpotha, Bisola Aiyeola, John Ekanem, Wunmi Toriola, Lateef Adedimeji, Ireoluwa Olaniyan, Ali Nuhu, Omotunde Adebowale David, popularly known as Lolo1, Mide Iwasokun, Kolapo Omotosho, Shoday, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Timini Egbuson, Uzor Arukwe and Ogbolor.
The production also features Ronke Oshodi Oke, Antar Laniyan, Samuel Banks and Ayomide Iwasokun, adding further depth to an already impressive line-up.
The Four is positioned as an emotionally charged drama exploring friendship, motherhood, resilience and the enduring strength of ordinary women.
Set between the picturesque Odu Community and the vibrant city, the story follows Esosa and three fiercely loyal women whose determination to fight for the future of a young man they love places their courage, faith and friendship under pressure.
The film also weaves together themes of hope, sacrifice and unity, while incorporating Nigerian music, fashion, language and traditions to give the story a strong cultural identity.
Speaking in an interview with BellaNaija, published on Monday, Akindele said the film was designed to explore relationships and experiences that audiences could recognise in their own lives.
“Audiences have grown with us over the years, and they expect stories that entertain while reflecting who we are,” she said.
“With The Four, we are exploring the relationships that shape us, challenge us and stay with us. I think audiences will find a part of themselves in this story.”
The new project adds to Akindele’s growing body of commercially successful theatrical films and further reinforces her influence in Nigeria’s film industry.
Over the years, she has directed and produced major titles including Omo Ghetto: The Saga, Battle on Buka Street, A Tribe Called Judah, Everybody Loves Jenifa and Behind The Scenes.
Her success at the box office has established her as one of Nigeria’s most prominent filmmakers, with her productions regularly attracting significant attention from cinema audiences.
With its combination of established stars, a family-centred storyline and themes of loyalty and resilience, The Four is shaping up as another major theatrical release from Akindele.
The Four: No One Fights Alone is scheduled to open in cinemas globally on December 11, 2026, with FilmOne handling its theatrical distribution.
