ID Cabasa speaks out on rising insecurity in Nigeria, lamenting the normalisation of violence and urging national reflection
Veteran Nigerian music producer ID Cabasa has expressed deep concern over the rising level of insecurity in the country, warning that Nigerians are gradually becoming desensitised to violence.
In an emotional video clip, the music executive lamented the frequency of violent attacks and abductions across several parts of the country, describing the situation as disturbing and deeply painful.
He said the repeated occurrence of killings and violent incidents has created a worrying sense of normalisation among citizens, where tragedy is increasingly treated as routine.
According to him, the persistence of insecurity has forced many Nigerians to “adjust to darkness,” a development he described as alarming for national conscience and unity.
He also criticised the tendency for discussions around insecurity to be divided along political, religious and ethnic lines, arguing that such divisions weaken collective responses to national challenges.
ID Cabasa noted that even tragic incidents, including the killing of an innocent teacher, are often quickly absorbed into the cycle of daily news without sustained public outrage.
He stressed that the government must take stronger action to address insecurity, warning that continued inaction could deepen public despair and social fragmentation.
The producer’s remarks have since drawn attention on social media, where users have continued to debate the growing concerns over safety and governance in the country.
His comments add to a growing list of public voices calling for renewed national urgency in tackling insecurity across Nigeria.
