Nigerian singer Kingsley Okonkwo, popularly known as Kcee, has raised concerns about the growing influence of social media personalities on the music industry.

Speaking on the Afrobeats Intelligence podcast with Joey Akan, Kcee said the rise of influencer culture is reshaping how music is consumed, streamed, and ranked on charts.

Kcee Speaks on Influencing Culture music industry impact comment highlights his belief that while social media has created wider audience access, it has also altered the organic growth of music.

According to him, the ability for individuals to quickly build large online followings is now affecting the traditional structure of music promotion and success measurement.

He added that although influencer culture has some advantages, its negative effects on the music ecosystem outweigh the positives.

Kcee’s remarks align with previous comments by rapper Erigga, who also argued that the rise of tech influencers and digital trends has contributed to a decline in music quality and industry standards.
