Speaking in a recent interview on Naija FM Lagos, Klint Da Drunk, whose real name is Afamefuna Klint Igwemba, said his decision was influenced by a campus performance by legendary singer 2Face Idibia while both were students at the Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Enugu.

He explained that witnessing 2Face perform on stage during a school event made him reconsider his musical ambitions.

“I used to be a musician until 2Face got admitted to my school, IMT. One day when he got on stage to perform at an event, I left the hall,” Klint recalled.

Despite organisers urging him to perform after 2Face, Klint said hearing just two lines convinced him to give up on music entirely.

“I didn’t know that my style and 2Face’s style were different. If I had known, I would have continued making music. But thank God I didn’t continue. I like where I am,” he said.

Before focusing on comedy, Klint featured in the hit Nigerian hip-hop track Obodo by rapper Mr Raw, with whom he also co-founded a music group. The group finished second at the 2002 Star Quest talent show, losing to KC Presh.

Klint’s transition into comedy has since earned him widespread recognition, opening doors to Nollywood roles in films such as Men On The Run, Madam 10/10, Fast Cash, and Lost Kingdom. He emphasised that he has no regrets, noting that comedy has provided the creative fulfilment he sought in entertainment.
