Singer Korede Bello says poverty limits creativity as it forces people to focus on survival rather than innovation and curiosity.

Nigerian singer and songwriter Korede Bello has spoken about the psychological and social impact of poverty, describing it as a major barrier to creativity and innovation.

In a reflective post shared on his Instagram page, Korede explained that poverty prevents individuals from exploring their potential because they are constantly preoccupied with survival and meeting basic needs.

“Poverty limits people from being creative and innovative. When you’re worried about what to eat or how to pay rent, it’s hard to think beyond survival,” he wrote.

The “Godwin” crooner illustrated his point by comparing the privilege of wealth to the freedom to innovate.

“Think about this, right? Is Elon Musk going to be so concerned about space travel if his rent was due or if he didn’t know what he was going to eat tomorrow?” he asked.

Korede added that true living starts when survival is no longer a daily struggle, noting that success often springs from passion and curiosity rather than necessity.

“If money wasn’t an issue, what would you learn? What would you think about? Because the truth is, it’s a privilege to follow your curiosity when you’re not worried about surviving. When you stop surviving is when you start living. If you’re still surviving, you never get to live,” he added.
