Mercy Aigbe Thanks Fans After Mother’s Burial

Lagos, Nigeria – Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe has expressed profound gratitude to friends, family, and well-wishers following the burial of her mother, Mrs. Abisola Grace Owodunni.

The actress shared her appreciation on Instagram, describing how the love and support shown by attendees strengthened her family during the emotional ceremony.

“Yesterday, we celebrated our mother. Surrounded by her grandchildren and the love of friends and family, we felt strengthened.

Thank you all for your prayers, kindness, and support. We appreciate you deeply. Fly high with the angels, Iyenogie,” Aigbe wrote alongside photos from the event.

The burial, held over the weekend, saw a notable turnout from the Nollywood industry and prominent figures.

Among the attendees were Olori Ashley, fourth wife of the Ooni of Ife, former lawmaker Abike Dabiri, and actors including Iyabo Ojo, Toyin Abraham, Odunlade Adekola, Faithia Williams, Omowunmi Dada, Nkechi Blessing, Femi Adebayo, and Seyi Edun, among others.

Aigbe first announced her mother’s passing in September with a candlelight tribute, captioned “RIP mum.”

She later opened up about the emotional toll of preparing for the burial, describing tasks such as visiting cemeteries, selecting vaults, and checking coffins as “mentally and emotionally draining.”

Despite the grief, the ceremony served as a heartfelt celebration of Mrs. Owodunni’s life, with family and friends coming together to honour her memory.
