Nollywood stars and Taiwo Hassan’s family gathered for Ogogo’s eight-day Fidau prayer in Ilaro, Ogun State, honouring the late actor’s memory
Nollywood veterans Yinka Quadri and Jide Kosoko, actress Faithia Balogun, family members and friends of late actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, gathered at the Stadium in Ilaro, Ogun State, on Monday, August 31, 2026, for the eighth-day Fidau prayer held in his memory.
The gathering brought together colleagues from the Nigerian film industry, relatives and well-wishers who came to pay their respects to the veteran actor and celebrate his life following his death at the age of 66.
Videos shared on Instagram by #EmiraltyAfrica showed guests arriving at the venue for the Islamic prayer ceremony.
Among those present were veteran actors Yinka Quadri and Jide Kosoko, alongside actress Faithia Balogun and other Nollywood personalities.
Ogogo’s daughters, Kira Taiwo and Lima Taiwo, were also seen at the ceremony, joining other members of the family in remembering their father.
The event offered a poignant moment for colleagues who had shared decades of professional and personal connections with the respected actor.
The Ogogo eight-day Fidau had earlier been announced by the family through Jide Kosoko, who shared details of the ceremony on his Instagram page.
Taiwo Hassan died on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the age of 66. His death prompted an outpouring of tributes from colleagues, fans and members of the Yoruba film community.
In keeping with Islamic tradition, Hassan was buried in his hometown of Ilaro on Monday, August 24, a day after his death was announced.
His burial followed a long and influential career in Nollywood, particularly within the Yoruba-language film industry, where he became widely recognised by his stage name, Ogogo.
The eighth-day prayer therefore served not only as a religious observance but also as a gathering for those who knew and worked with him to reflect on his contribution to Nigerian cinema.
For many of his colleagues, Hassan’s passing marked the loss of a familiar and influential figure whose work had spanned several decades.
The presence of veteran performers and younger members of the entertainment community underscored the breadth of relationships he built throughout his career.
As the family continues its mourning, the Fidau provided a solemn opportunity for relatives, friends and colleagues to come together in prayer and remembrance for the late actor.
