The announcement, shared on his Instagram page, included photos and videos showcasing the expansive 7-acre facility located at Idi Ori, Onidundu, Akinyele LGA, Ibadan.

The Okiki Films Village is described as a “sacred creative space” where traditional Yoruba stories, cultural heritage, and historical narratives can come alive.

From mud houses to ancient symbols, every detail reflects African identity, offering filmmakers a setting to tell authentic stories rooted in the continent’s history.

Many Yoruba Nollywood stars joined the celebration, flooding Chief Esan’s social media posts with congratulatory messages.

Actor Jamiu Azeez wrote, “Congratulations, sir,” while Kolawole Ajeyemi and Yetunde Bakare echoed similar praise.

Mistura Asunramu and Ashabi also expressed admiration for the cultural significance of the project.

The unveiling has drawn comparisons to other notable film villages in Nigeria.

Prince Jide Kosoko praised colleague Dele Odule during his visit to the Ile Asa complex, while Femi Adebayo lauded Kunle Afolayan’s contributions to African cinema.

In 2024, Ibrahim Chatta welcomed the Oyo State Police Force to his film village, discussing community security and anti-piracy measures.

Chief Esan’s initiative follows a trend of filmmakers receiving government and community support.

Last year, filmmaker Kunle Afolayan acknowledged Ekiti State Governor Seyi Makinde for reconstructing the road leading to his film village, describing it as a “corridor of possibility” for creatives, farmers, and the local economy.
