Toyin Abraham’s directorial debut, “Oversabi Aunty,” grosses N99.8m opening weekend, becoming Nollywood’s second-highest 2025 release

Actress and producer Toyin Abraham , achieved a major milestone in Nollywood with her directorial debut, “Oversabi Aunty”, which grossed N99.8 million in its opening weekend, making it the second-highest opening film of 2025.

The film tells the story of a well-meaning but overly involved aunty whose attempts to fix everyone’s problems spark hilarious misunderstandings and heartwarming revelations.

Following an advanced screening on 18 December, the film’s nationwide release generated significant buzz, drawing audiences to cinemas across Nigeria.

“Oversabi Aunty features an all-star cast, including Mike Ezuruonye, Efe Irele, and Enioluwa Adeoluwa, among others,” Abraham noted, highlighting the collaboration that brought her vision to life.

In a heartfelt social media post, Abraham thanked fans for their support:

“Opening weekend for Oversabi Aunty, GOD DID! You all did this, and I’m beyond grateful. Thank you to everyone who has seen and is still going to see Oversabi Aunty in cinemas. This is my first big-screen directorial debut, and I don’t take it for granted.”
