Patience Ozokwor Reveals Why She Once Evicted Her Son

Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor, popularly known as Mama G, has revealed that she once evicted her son from her home to encourage him to become independent and learn the value of hard work.

Ozokwor made the revelation during a recent interview with media personality Femi Baba, while speaking about parenting, discipline and the dangers of overprotecting children.

The celebrated actress argued that parents who try to spare their children every form of hardship may unintentionally undermine their future.

“The fastest way to ruin a child’s life is to say you don’t want them to suffer the way you did,” Ozokwor said.

She recalled confronting her son directly when she believed he needed to take greater responsibility for his own life.

“When you’re gone, they may start fighting over your property. I told my son, ‘My house isn’t yours. Go and work for your own.’”

For Ozokwor, the decision was not about abandoning her son but about giving him the discipline and independence she believed he needed to succeed.

The actress said she raised her children with an emphasis on discipline and hard work and expressed satisfaction that they were doing well.

Her message carries a wider parenting lesson: providing children with comfort and security does not necessarily mean removing every challenge from their path.

Ozokwor urged parents to resist the temptation to make life completely easy for their children simply because they experienced hardship themselves.

According to the actress, children need to develop resilience, responsibility and the ability to work for what they want rather than growing entirely dependent on their parents.
