Phyna supports Sowore 2027 as she boldly rejects Peter Obi and declares her hope for Nigeria lies with the AAC activist ahead of the general elections
Reality television personality and former Big Brother Naija winner, Josephina Otabor Ijeoma, popularly known as Phyna, has stirred political conversation with her declaration of support for activist and politician Omoyele Sowore ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Taking to her official X account, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday, Phyna questioned whether Sowore intended to run again and announced that she was prepared to back him fully.
Her post came as a response to her personal disappointment in other political figures, most notably Peter Obi.
She did not mince words, expressing a clear shift in her political stance. “Is @YeleSowore going to contest in 2027? If yes, sir I am personally ready. Because from what I just saw even obi is not a saint.
sowore is looking like our only hope at this point,” she wrote on X.
Phyna went further to express frustration at the backlash she received for her views, making her feelings known with a mix of humour and defiance.
“I said my own and piece…… everyone has their opinions but unfortunately some monkeys are masturbating and doing soapy on my CS omo everybody wants a better Nigeria and I see mine in Sowore at this point for your tears,” she added.
Her statement sparked immediate reactions across social media, with supporters and critics alike weighing in. For some, Phyna’s endorsement of Sowore signifies growing disillusionment with traditional candidates. For others, it’s a welcome support for a man long seen as a consistent voice in Nigerian activism.
Sowore, who contested in previous presidential elections under the African Action Congress (AAC), has remained a vocal critic of the Nigerian establishment.
His name has been synonymous with street-level activism, especially among younger Nigerians who are increasingly seeking alternatives outside the mainstream political parties.
A social media analyst, Bola Adebayo, commented, “Phyna’s support may seem surprising, but celebrities often reflect public sentiment. People are frustrated and desperate for authenticity.”
In another development related to the 2027 political build-up, Nollywood actor Yul Edochie urged President Bola Tinubu not to become distracted by election talk.
Edochie, who is known for his vocal support of the current administration, advised the president to maintain focus on critical national challenges.
He posted on Facebook, saying, “The next general election is still two years away. This is the time to fix insecurity and reduce the cost of living. Nothing matters more now.”
While Phyna’s support for Sowore adds fresh momentum to early 2027 campaign narratives, Edochie’s comments reflect the ongoing divide between those ready to discuss new leadership and those advocating patience.
The 2027 election is still on the horizon, but political alignments are already shifting. With notable public figures like Phyna expressing strong views, the national conversation is bound to intensify.
Analysts suggest that endorsements from reality TV stars and entertainers, especially those with large followings, could shape political sentiment among the youth demographic.
As social media continues to serve as a battleground for political debates, the influence of popular figures like Phyna cannot be underestimated.
Whether Sowore will indeed declare his candidacy remains to be seen, but his supporters are growing in both number and visibility.
For now, Phyna stands firmly in her choice. And in a nation craving hope and change, even one voice declaring, “Sowore is looking like our only hope,” might just resonate far beyond the timeline.
