Poco Lee remains on remand in the UK ahead of a September 15 court appearance at Snaresbrook Crown Court over an alleged assault offence
Nigerian dancer and entertainer Iweh Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, remains on remand in the United Kingdom and is expected to appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court in London on September 15, 2026, for a plea hearing over an alleged assault offence, according to Nigerian-UK community advocate Benjamin Kuti, popularly known as the Oluomo of Derby.
Kuti said in a statement shared on social media on Monday that he had confirmed reports concerning Poco Lee’s detention and ongoing court proceedings.
“I can confirm that the reports are true. Poco Lee is currently on remand in a UK prison,” Kuti said.
He said the next hearing is scheduled for the second week of September and is expected to be a plea hearing, at which the defendant would indicate whether he intends to plead guilty or not guilty.
More specific reporting identifies the date as September 15 at 10am, with the hearing listed at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
A publicly available court-record report has also identified a case involving a person named Iweh Odinaka at Snaresbrook Crown Court on August 21.
The report said the hearing involved a bail application and that reporting restrictions applied. It did not publicly identify the alleged offence.
The development marks a significant change from the uncertainty surrounding the reports when they first emerged on social media on August 19.
Initial reports claimed that Poco Lee had been arrested in Britain, but details about the circumstances, alleged offence and his legal status were initially unclear.
At the time, reports noted that there had been no publicly available confirmation from UK police or prosecutors.
The latest reports from Kuti now indicate that Poco Lee is being held on remand while the legal process continues.
Kuti said he intended to attend the proceedings as part of his support for members of the Nigerian community in the UK.
“It is important that we allow the legal process to take its course. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law,” he said.
The reported UK proceedings have also coincided with separate allegations made publicly by Nigerian rapper Ms Jorji.
On August 19, Ms Jorji alleged that Poco Lee attempted to sexually assault her and a friend during an encounter in Dallas, Texas, about two years earlier.
She said she and her friend had visited Poco Lee after seeking advice about her music career and alleged that unwanted advances were subsequently made against them. She claimed that both women resisted and eventually left the property.
Those allegations remain unproven, and there is no verified information linking Ms Jorji’s account to the UK proceedings.
Reports about the UK case and the separate Dallas allegations should therefore be treated as distinct matters unless evidence establishes otherwise.
