Portable Accuses Destiny Records of Theft, Humiliation

Singer Portable accuses Destiny Records of bullying, theft claims, and humiliation after leaving the label. He calls for fairness and warns upcoming artists

Controversial Nigerian street-hop singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has called out his former record label, Destiny Records, over accusations of phone theft and public humiliation.

In a statement shared on his Instagram page, Portable explained that the phone in question had been given to him during his time with the label, which is owned by Ija Omode, Vice Chairman of the Union of Road Transport Workers in Ogun State.

According to Portable, the trouble began after he chose to exit the label due to a lack of support.

He alleged that individuals linked to the label forcefully collected the phone, bypassed his password and stripped him, accusing him of theft.

A video of the altercation was later circulated online by Naijakit.

“This is a clear case of intimidation and bullying by a record label,” Portable stated.

“I am speaking out now not for revenge but to set the record straight and protect upcoming artists from similar treatment.”

The singer further revealed that although those involved had reached out to him privately to settle the matter, they had failed to issue a public apology or correct the damaging narrative.

Portable, who gained national fame in 2022, is no stranger to controversy.

That same year, he publicly clashed with his then-manager Kogbagidi over a gifted SUV.

He also accused show promoter Billyque of kidnapping him in Kenya and ended several working relationships over financial and ethical disputes.
