Portable Makes Bold Claim of Superior Industry Support

Portable Makes Bold Claim of Superior Industry Support

Portable insists he offers Superior Industry Support, saying he helps artistes and ordinary people more than Nigeria’s biggest stars.

Controversial Nigerian singer Portable said in Lagos on Wednesday that he provides what he described as Superior Industry Support, claiming he has offered more assistance to emerging artistes and ordinary people than leading stars such as Olamide, Don Jazzy, Wizkid and Davido.

The Zazu crooner argued that his philanthropy extends well beyond the entertainment sector, insisting that he regularly supports the less privileged and engages closely with fans who promote his music online.

He said many celebrities fail to interact with their supporters, while he reposts positive content and maintains an open relationship with the public.

Portable said most established artistes decline to collaborate with newcomers even when money is involved, accusing them of prioritising ego over community-building.

He insisted his own approach is based on free assistance rather than transactional arrangements.

He defined “help” as providing shelter, clothing, food and funding for an artiste’s first studio session.

Portable said this level of support cannot be compared to commercial partnerships, which he described as simple business deals dressed up as generosity.

The singer also criticised industry figures who, in his view, exploit young artistes and later label them ungrateful once they seek independence.

He said genuine help should empower people, not bind them to controlling agreements.

Portable’s remarks add to his reputation for outspoken commentary and come at a time when conversations about industry mentorship, fairness and exploitation continue to generate debate across Nigeria’s music scene.
