Regina Chukwu speaks about secretly recorded conversations, saying such acts hurt her and raise questions about trust between friends

Nollywood actress Regina Chukwu has opened up about trust and friendship, expressing concern over the practice of secretly recording private conversations without the knowledge or consent of those involved.

Chukwu shared her thoughts in a social media post amid the controversy surrounding a leaked voice note involving her colleague, Toyin Abraham.

The actress questioned why people would secretly record phone conversations involving friends or acquaintances, particularly when there appears to be no clear reason for doing so.

Chukwu said she prefers to speak openly and believes in saying things directly to people rather than discussing them behind their backs.

She, however, admitted that discovering she had been secretly recorded by someone she trusted would deeply hurt her.

“I am still trying to understand the norms about secretly recording phone conversations your friend/acquaintance is having with you, like, why the recording in the first place?” she wrote.

Chukwu added that she would not say something behind someone’s back that she could not confidently say to their face.

“Thank God, I will never say things I can’t say to your face, behind you!” she said.

The actress said her main concern was the breach of trust that comes with secretly recording a private conversation.

“But I do get deeply hurt if someone I am comfortable gisting with records our conversation in secrecy,” she added.

Chukwu’s comments have drawn attention to broader questions about privacy, trust and boundaries in personal relationships, particularly as leaked private conversations continue to generate controversy within the entertainment industry.
