The news was shared on Sunday, February 8, 2026, in an emotional video that has since gone viral.

Salami, who produced the film while Ademola directed it, fought back tears as he discussed their close partnership and her vision for the project, which celebrates the resilience of African women.

“It is quite unfortunate that two people had a plan of something great, but it is just one person that is here right now,” Salami said.

Fans and colleagues have expressed widespread sympathy, praising Salami for honouring his late friend and collaborator.

One fan wrote on social media: “Allwell will rest and smile down to see you are a great success,” while another encouraged support for the film: “Kilanko will be sold out, in shā’ Allāh. Please guys, let’s all step out from 6 March to support the movement by going to the cinemas.”

The announcement has brought renewed attention to Ademola’s contributions to Nollywood.
