Iguma was remanded in prison on Friday after accusations that he publicly defamed the company by alleging fraudulent activities in their real estate dealings.

The bail was set at ₦500,000, with the judge emphasizing the importance of due process and fair hearing.

Iguma had taken to his social media platforms to expose what he described as ongoing fraud by the company, warning potential customers to steer clear of their offers.

His posts went viral and drew public attention, leading the real estate company to file a defamation lawsuit.

The case triggered significant public outrage, particularly from fellow activists, content creators, and musicians who viewed the arrest as an attempt to suppress free speech and silence whistleblowers.

We cannot be silent when it looks like oppression is around the corner. Injustice for one is injustice to all.

Singer Kokopee, one of the vocal supporters of Iguma, issued a strong statement after the hearing:

“After the hearing, the judge has granted Scott Iguma bail. His legal team is working round the clock to ensure all bail conditions are met. One thing I must tell Nigerians is that we cannot be silent when it looks like oppression is around the corner. Injustice for one is injustice to all. PWAN be warned, if you say you are innocent, come forward with proof.”

Several online influencers echoed similar sentiments, urging the public to stand firm against what they call a growing trend of using legal systems to intimidate critics.

Legal analysts have also weighed in, noting that defamation laws must not be misused to stifle public discourse or shield companies from accountability, especially when such claims involve public interest.
