Nigerian singer Sean Tizzle has paid an emotional tribute to his late colleague and mentor, Sound Sultan, who passed away from cancer in July 2021.

In a heartfelt message posted on Instagram, Sean Tizzle revealed that it took him years to find the right words to honor Sound Sultan’s legacy, admitting he had struggled with the fear that no tribute would ever be enough.

“I wish I had said this earlier, to your face. I wish I had hugged you tighter,” he wrote.

According to Tizzle, Sound Sultan was instrumental in discovering and nurturing his talent even before the world recognized his potential.

He emphasized that Sultan wasn’t just a musical influence, but also taught him the values of humility, grace, and using his platform for a greater purpose.

He didn’t just teach me music, he taught me humility, grace, and the importance of using my voice for more than just melodies.

The Sho Le’ crooner remembered his mentor as a selfless individual who gave without expecting anything in return.

described Sultan’s influence as something that continues to shape his life and career.

“Thank you, Sound Sultan. I am because you were. I carry your spirit with me always,” he concluded.
