Seun Kuti defends Korra Obidi tribute as he praised her gesture and described it as something the late musician would have appreciated.

Korra’s performance, filmed during a visit to the graveside over the weekend, sparked a wave of controversy online. Critics accused her of being disrespectful, while supporters argued she was honouring Fela in her own expressive style.

Responding to the backlash, Seun said Korra had simply offered his father what he genuinely enjoyed in his lifetime.

He described her tribute as bold and sincere, noting that many people who profess admiration for Fela do not demonstrate it in ways that reflect his true personality.

“You guys know what baba likes but you will never give him what he wants,” Seun said. “E go better for you my sister.”

Korra later explained that Fela’s well-known admiration for confident women inspired her choice of tribute. She described her dance as an “offering” rooted in Fela’s spirit of freedom and artistic expression.
