Afrobeats singer Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, professionally known as Skales, has clarified his testimony at Harvesters Church after receiving criticism, acknowledging that his initial response may have been rushed but maintaining his stance on faith and purpose.

In his testimony, Skales credited Barcelona football star Lamine Yamal with reviving his music career following the renewed success of his 2015 hit “Shake Body,” expressing gratitude for Yamal’s influence in reigniting his professional journey.

Responding to critics on X, Skales said he initially reacted quickly but later reflected on the concerns.

“After sitting with it, I felt it was important to respond again. This time with more clarity and less emotion, for the sake of the Body of Christ,” he wrote.

Skales emphasised that all believers have a meaningful purpose, whether within the pulpit or in their professional vocations.

He cited 1 Corinthians 12:28 to highlight that musicians, filmmakers, athletes, teachers, and other professionals also serve God through their work.

Defending his testimony, Skales reaffirmed his commitment to publicly sharing his faith, stressing that testifying about God’s work in one’s life is entirely appropriate.

“We exist to make life lighter for others. We all function here, serving God through what we’ve been called to do. That said, I will never believe that testifying about what my God has done for me is wrong! I’m a child of God, and I have no problem sharing that with the world,” he wrote.
