The Grime pioneer took to his X handle on Thursday to issue the challenge, proposing that a transatlantic rap battle would finally resolve the ongoing argument over which side dominates lyrically.

“I wanna clash an American rapper anyway, finally get this UK/US rap debate sorted,” Skepta stated, throwing down the gauntlet in a move that stirred reactions online.

The rapper went further to suggest a full-scale battle card, pitting some of the UK’s finest lyricists against top-tier American rappers.

He matched Ghetts with Eminem, Chip with Kendrick Lamar, Dave with Lil Wayne, and Blade Brown with Pusha T. Central Cee, Lancey, and JME were also named among the UK defenders, with rivals such as Jack Harlow, Travis Scott, and Tyler, The Creator lined up.

He didn’t stop there. Skepta paired Queenie with Megan Thee Stallion and declared confidence in the UK’s chances due to their Grime background.

The microphone training you get from being in the grime scene is top level, Oxford Uni level training, we’re not easy, lol.
