Teddy A and BamBam reveal they were not speaking for two weeks before their proposal, addressing claims about their marriage and first pregnancy
Nollywood actor and reality television star Tope Adenibuyan, popularly known as Teddy A, has revealed that he and his wife, actress Bamike Adenibuyan, widely known as BamBam, were not speaking for two weeks before he proposed to her, offering a candid account of the challenges surrounding their relationship before marriage.
Teddy A made the revelation during an interview in which the couple also addressed speculation that they married primarily because BamBam was pregnant with their first child.
The former Big Brother Naija stars maintained that their relationship was rooted in love, while Teddy A explained that learning about the pregnancy prompted him to reflect on his responsibilities and the future of their relationship.
According to the actor, the couple had been experiencing a disagreement and had stopped communicating for about two weeks before the proposal.
“Do you understand that before I proposed to my wife, we were not talking for two weeks. We were fighting,” he said.
He explained that when BamBam informed him of the pregnancy, he began to consider what the development meant for their relationship and his responsibilities as a partner.
“Then when she told me she was pregnant, I felt that it was a sign,” Teddy A said.
The actor added that he had to consider whether he wanted to continue the relationship and take responsibility for the situation.
BamBam also spoke about public speculation that her pregnancy was the main reason Teddy A decided to marry her.
She argued that pregnancy alone could not have compelled the actor to marry her if he did not genuinely want to commit to their relationship.
“Even about the pregnancy that people were talking about, saying that it was because of the pregnancy he married me. If Teddy did not want to marry me, there was nothing I was going to do about it,” she said.
Her comments challenged the narrative that the couple’s decision to marry was driven solely by the pregnancy, with both stars maintaining that their relationship involved a personal commitment beyond the circumstances surrounding the birth of their first child.
Teddy A’s account also highlighted the difficult conversations that can accompany major relationship decisions, particularly when partners are already dealing with disagreements.
Despite their differences before the proposal, the couple eventually moved forward with their relationship and formalised their union.
Teddy A and BamBam first rose to wider prominence through their participation in Big Brother Naija, where their relationship attracted considerable public attention.
Their romance continued beyond the reality television show, culminating in their traditional wedding ceremony on September 7, 2019, in Ogun State.
The couple later held their white wedding ceremony in Dubai on November 16, 2019.
They now have two children together and have continued to share aspects of their relationship and family life with the public.
Their latest comments offer a glimpse into the disagreements and decisions that preceded their marriage, while addressing assumptions that have followed their relationship over the years.
By speaking openly about their pre-proposal conflict and the circumstances surrounding their first pregnancy, Teddy A and BamBam have presented a more personal account of their journey from reality television romance to married life.
