The event, organised by the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation in partnership with Berklee College of Music, was held on Sunday at the National Theatre Lagos. It marked the “Berklee in Nigeria: Class of 2026” graduation and featured a free concert showcasing about 120 emerging artists.

Eighteen students were awarded full three-year undergraduate scholarships to study in Boston, underscoring the initiative’s growing impact on music education and talent development.

The reunion between the two artists drew immediate attention after a video circulated online showing both exchanging a friendly embrace.

The moment carried added weight given their long-standing tensions, which became public following a 2021 confrontation in Lagos that went viral.

Singer Teni also performed at the ceremony, contributing to an energetic and celebratory atmosphere that highlighted Nigeria’s vibrant creative scene.

In a 2025 interview on the OffAir Show, Seyi Shay said she had initially been unaware of the cause of the breakdown in her relationship with Tiwa Savage.

She later explained that new information regarding past personal circumstances offered clarity on the misunderstanding.

Seyi Shay said the revelation helped explain why Tiwa Savage may have believed she was aware of a sensitive situation at the time, contributing to the rift.

The tension had built over several years, fuelled by industry disagreements and perceived musical slights.

Despite the history, both artists have in recent years expressed openness to dialogue. Seyi Shay said she remained willing to resolve their differences, while Tiwa Savage has also indicated that a direct conversation could address lingering issues.
