Uche Jombo has shared what she described as an important reality about Nollywood, cautioning young filmmakers against misconceptions about the size and structure of the Nigerian film industry.

The veteran actress and producer made the remarks during an interview at an event in Lagos, where she reflected on her decades long experience within the entertainment sector.

According to Uche Jombo, Nollywood may appear massive from the outside because of its global recognition and high volume of productions, but the industry is far more interconnected than many people realise.

“Nollywood is not as big as you think it is. It is a very small industry. It is not as big,” she said during the conversation.

Her comments have sparked fresh discussions among filmmakers and fans about the realities of networking, reputation and professional relationships within the Nigerian movie industry.

Uche Jombo began her acting career in 1999 with the film Visa to Hell and has since evolved into one of Nollywood’s most recognised creative figures.

Over the years, she has built an influential career as an actress, screenwriter, producer and director, contributing to several successful productions including Games Men Play, Holding Hope, Damage, Lara and the Beat, and Silent Scandals.

The actress is widely respected for her consistency and longevity in an industry known for its competitiveness and rapid changes.
