Veekee James, renowned Nigerian fashion entrepreneur, has spoken out about the emotional toll false accusations took on her after her wedding, revealing that the experience nearly pushed her into depression.

Speaking on the Nancy Isime Show, James addressed viral claims that she allegedly “snatched” her husband from a friend — accusations she firmly denies.
“There was one that really shook me… That was the story of how I stole him from a friend. So many of them are lies. It almost put me in depression,” she shared.
James admitted that the online backlash caused her to isolate for two days, during which she cried and prayed, asking God for strength.
“For the first time in my life, I got to understand what people who face depression feel. I told God, ‘If what they’re saying is all lies, help us get through this without it ruining my brand.’”
The designer credits her faith and family support for helping her navigate the ordeal. Despite advice to avoid online comments, James confessed to reading them to understand public perception — but ultimately turned to God for guidance.
“The way God brought me out was like a miracle,” she said. “I want to raise kids who are role models, not hide them from the world.”
