Why he fell for Mercy Aigbe has finally been revealed by film marketer Kazim Adeoti, popularly known as Adekaz.

In a recent interview with Oyinmomo TV, Adeoti explained that his admiration for the Nollywood actress began on a film set in 2011 and was rooted in her honesty and professionalism.

The couple met while working on the movie Hajia Jemila.

Adeoti recalled paying Aigbe for her role and expecting the usual complaints about low fees, but she surprised him by returning unspent money after the shoot.

He admitted that her integrity left a lasting impression.

“I was genuinely shocked,” he said. “In this industry, it’s rare. People had warned me not to trust women with money, but Mercy proved them wrong.”

Kazim explained that this moment of trust laid the foundation for their working relationship, which eventually blossomed into a romance.

Despite backlash surrounding their marriage in 2022, especially because he was already married to Funsho Adeoti, the couple has stood by their decision.

Mercy Aigbe, who owns the fashion brand Mag Divas, had previously stated that her decision to marry Kazim was based on mutual understanding and shared goals within the film industry. “We are building an empire together,” she said.

Their partnership has already produced results. Ada Omo Daddy, a 2023 Nollywood hit produced by Mercy and distributed by Adekaz Productions, was a box office success.

In 2025, she earned a Best Supporting Actress award at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) for her role in Farmer’s Bride.
