Grammy-winning Afrobeat star Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has publicly criticised veteran singer Innocent Idibia, famously called 2Baba, after the latter ranked Burna Boy above him on the global stage.

The tension emerged following a recent interview granted by 2Baba to journalist Seun Okinbaloye, in which the award-winning singer identified Burna Boy as Nigeria’s leading international artist among the so-called “Big 3” of Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy.

Wizkid responded in a pointed Snapchat post, addressing 2Baba as an “old man” and suggesting he resolve personal matters before commenting on the music industry.

“At least make peace with your family first before having opinions about music. Old man. I’m never letting it slack in 2026,” Wizkid wrote, igniting a flurry of online debate.

The exchange has reignited discussions among fans and industry watchers over who truly dominates Nigeria’s global music footprint.

Supporters of the respective artists have been actively trading opinions on social media platforms, further amplifying the controversy.

Only months earlier, Wizkid had declared himself Nigeria’s number one Afrobeat star, underscoring his confidence in his international stature.

Industry insiders note that the “Big 3” conversation has long shaped fan discourse, with rivalries and accolades marking the evolving dynamics of Nigeria’s music export scene.
