Wumi Toriola Slams Afeez Owo Over Podcast Comparison

Wumi Toriola slams Afeez Owo over comments comparing her to Mide Martins, calling his podcast remarks disrespectful and untrue

Actress Wumi Toriola has fired back at veteran Nollywood director Afeez Owo, after he compared her temperament to that of his wife, actress Mide Martins, during a recent podcast appearance.

Afeez, speaking on the African A-List podcast, claimed thatn Wumi’s real-life character closely mirrors her fiery roles on screen, unlike his wife, Mide, whom he described as calm and composed in reality.

“Mide’s character in the movie is totally different from real life, but Wumi’s movie role is close to her character in real life. Violence is her comfort zone. Wumi will react when provoked and doesn’t take nonsense,” Afeez said.

The remarks didn’t sit well with Wumi, who took to her Instagram in a now-deleted video to slam Afeez Owo, calling his comments disrespectful and unwarranted.

“Must every rift be taken to podcasts? They gave you a mic and you started saying rubbish,” she said. “After they entertained you with pepper soup, you started blabbing. Am I a mad woman? If people don’t offend me, will I be angry?”

She further expressed disappointment, saying despite his “unfortunate behaviour,” she has **never insulted him and still tries to show respect.

Both Wumi Toriola and Mide Martins are widely recognized for playing hot-tempered roles in Yoruba movies, a fact that may have fueled Afeez’s controversial comments.
