Speaking on the “Is This A Safe Space?” podcast, the Zanku hitmaker revealed that the birth of his son five years ago marked a turning point in his personal and professional journey.

He admitted that before fatherhood, he had little thought for the future, but welcoming his child forced him to reassess his priorities.

“The birth of my son changed me. It made me realise that life was getting more serious. I wasn’t prepared. I started paying house rent in London at 25.

I was scared I might not be able to keep up with the bills because some people were saying I might not be relevant in the music industry for more than three years,” Zlatan said.

The rapper confessed that he became anxious about future expenses and potential instability in his career, which made him develop better money habits.

“I became more serious with managing my finances. I limited my spending and started saving for diapers,” he said with a chuckle.

Zlatan Ibile also shared that fatherhood spurred emotional maturity, helping him reflect on past mistakes and abandon certain behaviours that no longer aligned with his responsibilities.

The rapper, who has often spoken about his humble beginnings, described the experience as “the best motivation” to build a lasting legacy beyond fleeting fame.
