Foluke Adeboye has disclosed a personal sacrifice she made after becoming born again, revealing how she gave up her collection of gold items to fully embrace her faith in Christ.

In a resurfaced throwback video, Adeboye recounted how her love for fashion and her extensive collection of jewellery, some intended for her young child, clashed with church teachings during the early days of her and husband Enoch Adeboye’s spiritual transformation in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

“Every woman loves fashion,” she said, recalling her investment in gold and accessories. “By the time we became born again, it was a taboo for you to have them.”

Instead of keeping or selling the valuables, Foluke Adeboye made the remarkable decision to discard them into a lagoon, despite questioning from family friends.

“I said, whatever is not good for me is not good for my mother,” she explained, underscoring her commitment to her faith.

She also reflected on switching from gold to copper, a popular alternative at the time, noting the financial sacrifices involved.

Despite this, she affirmed she has no regrets: “What would I say I miss? Not much, I have already sold myself.”
