Ikorodu Court Approves DNA Test for Mohbad’s Son

Ikorodu Court Approves DNA Test for Mohbad’s Son

Mohbad DNA test moves forward as Ikorodu Magistrate Court approves three UK and US labs for sample collection in paternity dispute

The Lagos State Magistrate Court sitting in Ikorodu has approved three foreign laboratories to conduct the Mohbad DNA test on Liam, the son of late singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

Oladayo Oglungbe, counsel to Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, announced the decision following Thursday’s court session.

Oladayo Ogungbe disclosed that the court authorised one laboratory in the United States and two in the United Kingdom.

According to Oladayo Ogungbe, all parties involved will be present during the collection of samples.

The lawyer explained that Mohbad’s widow, Wunmi Aloba, and Joseph Aloba each selected one laboratory, while the court appointed an independent facility to ensure transparency.

“The court has eventually picked three DNA laboratory centres, two in the United Kingdom and one in the United States. One from us, one from them, and the court picked an independent one,” Oladayo Ogungbe said.

The ruling follows Joseph Aloba’s earlier demand for a paternity test in the wake of the controversial circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death in September 2023 at his residence in Lagos State.

The matter was adjourned to 7 April 2026 for the collection of samples, a process the court directed will be monitored by welfare officers to guarantee procedural integrity.
