Mohbad Nurse Prosecution Recommended By Court

Mohbad nurse prosecution recommended as Lagos court finds Feyisayo Ogedengbe guilty of gross negligence in the late singer’s death from an unauthorised injection

The Lagos State Coroner’s Court in Ikorodu has recommended the prosecution of auxiliary nurse Feyisayo Ogedengbe over the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.

Magistrate C.A. Shotobi delivered the verdict on Friday, ruling that Ogedengbe acted with gross negligence. Although the court found no evidence of homicide, it stated that she unlawfully administered an injection without a doctor’s prescription.

“In line with Section 29 of the Coroner Laws of Lagos State, this court recommends that the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP, initiate appropriate legal action against Feyisayo Ogedengbe for unauthorized medical practice and gross negligence,” Magistrate Shotobi said.

Ogedengbe, who remains under investigation, admitted during testimony in March 2025 that she injected Mohbad with a tetanus shot before he began vomiting and reacting adversely.

Mohbad died on 11 September 2023, sparking widespread protests and demands for accountability. His death prompted an inquest, which concluded after hearing from nineteen witnesses over nearly two years.
