Ola of Lagos Has Never Slept in Houses He Bought

Ola of Lagos rent stands at ₦50 million a year because the influencer fears his own houses would make him too comfortable to keep working

Waris Olayinka Akinwande, the Nigerian influencer and entrepreneur known as Ola of Lagos, has explained his Ola of Lagos rent arrangement on the KK Show, saying he still leases a home even though he owns several houses.

He told the host he had never spent a night in any house bought with his own money.

The reason, he said, was comfort. Ownership would make him ease off. A landlord’s bill would not.

He placed that bill at ₦50 million a year.

“I have never slept in any house I bought with my own money. If you do, you will become too relaxed. Despite being in a beautiful estate, I still live in rented apartments and pay rent. When I pay 50 million naira a year. I use that pain to keep grinding harder,” he said.

The striking claim sits in a familiar Lagos story. Property is status. Rent is supposed to be the thing you escape. Waris Olayinka Akinwande has turned the escape into a tool.

He offered no tour of the houses, no address and no documents on air. The point he wanted was motivational, not architectural.
