Peter Okoye’s explosive financial claims ignite a fresh feud with Jude Okoye, alleging theft, betrayal, and detailing his solo career’s profitability
Peter Okoye explosive financial claims have reignited a fierce family feud, as the artist, known as Mr P, publicly retaliated against his brother Jude Okoye in a fiery post on X (formerly Twitter) this Monday.
Peter’s scathing remarks were a direct response to a statement Jude issued last Friday, intensifying the long-standing animosity within the celebrated Okoye musical family.
The ongoing dispute continues to captivate fans and industry observers, highlighting unresolved issues that have plagued the brothers for years and now openly involve accusations of financial impropriety and betrayal.
This latest public exchange signals a deepening rift, with both parties doubling down on their respective narratives.
Mr P asserted that his solo career has far surpassed the financial gains he achieved during his time with Psquare, even when factoring in the earnings split three ways with his twin brother Paul and their former manager, Jude.
“I now earn on my own as a solo artiste today more than what I used to earn after splitting three ways as Psquare, plus the so-called manager,” Peter declared.
He further specified, “I’m talking about both shows and endorsements.”
These statements underscore a significant shift in his financial landscape since going solo, a move he describes as profoundly more rewarding.
This claim directly challenges any notion that his individual career is less successful than the group’s heyday.
Peter expressed profound disillusionment with the past, questioning the value of sharing earnings with individuals he accuses of betrayal and financial misconduct.
“It really makes me question, What’s the point of sharing with people who stole from you, betrayed you, and still discriminate against your efforts?” His words convey a deep sense of injustice and resentment, suggesting that his decision to break away was not merely artistic but also driven by perceived ethical breaches.
He characterised his solo venture as “more rewarding and profitable, both financially and personally,” emphatically adding that it brought him “peace of mind.”
Furthermore, Peter declared an end to his previous attempts at diplomacy: “I have stopped playing nice and being the mature one while getting disrespected.”
The dramatic escalation follows serious allegations against Jude Okoye, who is currently facing charges of laundering ₦1.38 billion, $1 million, and £34,537.59.
Peter directly accused Jude of attempting to malign him to Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officials, suggesting this contributed to Jude’s subsequent arrest and detention.
Despite we are in court! Una never still answers the question, Una thief abi una no thief?
“These are the exact same words you told the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officials. And you ended up getting locked up in prison. Of course, you have to come up with another narrative.”
Peter’s Monday post adamantly pressed Jude to address the fundamental accusation: “Despite we are in court! Una never still answers the question, Una thief abi una no thief?” This direct challenge highlights the core of the ongoing legal and personal battle.
Peter’s explosive statements were a direct counter to Jude Okoye’s Instagram post from last Friday.
In his statement, the music executive accused Peter, singer Cynthia Morgan, and other former signees under his management of ingratitude and betrayal.
Jude claimed that these artists were successful under his guidance but left due to greed, only to face financial difficulties later and blame him.
“They were big, influential and successful when I was shouldering them with my platform until they got greedy and wanted to eat alone and so left. Years down the line, they fell off the wagon and became broke, and instead of accepting responsibility… they are pointing fingers at the same person they left,” Jude wrote, denying any financial wrongdoing and challenging his accusers to provide specific details of their allegations.
He recounted being detained for two months due to what he described as fabricated charges.
This renewed public confrontation also coincides with earlier claims by singer Cynthia Morgan, a former Northside signee, who alleged in early June that Peter Okoye had distanced himself from her struggles, stating his online support for her was strategic against Jude rather than personal.
The dispute is set against the backdrop of an ongoing legal battle where the EFCC arraigned Jude in February 2025 on multiple counts of money laundering, including allegations of converting over $1 million in royalties from Psquare’s music catalogue and using proceeds to acquire a luxury property worth ₦850 million in Ikoyi, Lagos.
Jude has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The internal family dispute first re-emerged publicly in August 2024 when Paul Okoye (Rudeboy) confirmed Psquare’s permanent split, following an initial separation in 2017 and a brief 2021 reunion over unresolved issues regarding royalties and control of their music assets.
