SystemSpecs Essay Competition Winners Celebrated

The 2025 SystemSpecs essay competition rewarded Nigerian children with millions in cash, promoting digital creativity and critical thinking nationwide

Children from across Nigeria have received millions of naira in the 2025 SystemSpecs essay competition, celebrating creativity, resilience, and bold thinking.

Over 5,000 entries were submitted by children aged nine to sixteen. This marks a 33% increase in participation compared to 2024, with girls accounting for 61% of submissions.

Winners in the junior and senior categories received ₦1 million each. They also earned laptops, internet access for one year, and educational materials. Runners-up were awarded ₦750,000 and ₦500,000.

Dr Ernest Ndukwe, Chairman of SystemSpecs Holdings, praised the entrants. “What we celebrate today is not just talent but courage. The courage to speak up, think deeply, and believe in innovation.”

Junior winner Adeomi Adesewa said the experience was life-changing. She explained that rewriting her essay several times taught her that ideas can shape the world.

Senior category winner Okeke Daniel noted that the competition pushed him to be bold. He said that acting with purpose opens new doors and creates lasting impact.

Loyola Jesuit College, Abuja, and Abesan Comprehensive Junior College, Lagos, won in the schools’ category. Each received ten laptops to support ICT learning.

The SystemSpecs essay competition also welcomed entries from children in orphanages and those with special needs. The organisers said this reflects their strong belief in inclusive education.

Remita Managing Director ‘DeRemi Atanda described the initiative as a launchpad for national transformation. He added that investing in young minds is essential for Nigeria’s future.

Alumni like Darasimi Nadi and Toluwase Shoniran shared how the contest helped define their career paths. More than fifteen schools submitted over twenty entries each this year.
