Singer Tems Says She Is Now “Off the Streets”

Tems left the streets, the singer said on TikTok, adding she never really counted herself as single and searching in the first place

Temilade Openiyi, the Grammy-winning Nigerian singer known as Tems, said during a TikTok livestream on Monday, 14 September 2026, that Tems left the streets.

In Nigerian slang the phrase often means a woman is no longer dating around, or is spoken for. She did not name a partner or announce a wedding.

“I don’t like it when guys waste my time. But for me, never again. I don’t have that problem anymore. I have left the streets; I wouldn’t even say I was ever on the streets,” she said.

That last clause is the story’s brake. Fans heard a soft launch. She heard an exit from time-wasting. Both readings can live in the same sentence. She offered no date, no name and no further plot.

The remark sits on older interviews. Speaking with YouTuber Korty EO, she said many men who approached her had an obvious agenda and little interest in a deeper bond.

She has also described dressing down in studios so sessions stayed about work. Those comments were about motive and focus, not a courtship diary.

Tems, raised in Lagos and now a global live draw, has built a catalogue that includes Born in the Wild, later EPs and collaborations that reached the top of the UK singles chart.

Private life has stayed thinner than the music. A livestream aside will not fill that gap.

Online, “off the streets” is treated as engagement news until a ring appears. It can also mean someone has simply closed the app.
